Overview
Since 2010, in the seven main latam countries, mobile service penetration rates over population in the chosen area surpassed the 100%. In other words, in average, there were more operational lines than inhabitants. As a matter of fact, in great part of such analyzed countries, such barrier had been overcome before said date. Dataxis discarded mobile market saturation situations in the region and considers that, by 2016, 322,14 million new units will added as compared with 2011-existing mobile lines; that is, a 61.78% jump
Otherwise, according to Dataxis, by 2016 end, accrued mobile lines will amount to 843.55 million; that is a 171.1% penetration rate over total population in the seven main markets of the region.
This report provides detailed analysis, figures and forecasts of the rapid growth of smartphones in the region. The sale of mobile handsets in Latin America started a rapid growth stage in terms of volume in 2010. According to Dataxis, said growth stemmed from the spreading of Smartphones; a model that stepped in the market in 2008. In 2011, 152,8 million mobile handsets were sold, that is, an additional 22.53% regarding 2008.
