According to dataxis, a strong growth has been observed in the recent years in pay TV subscribers in French speaking Africa.
The number of pay TV clients almost doubled between 2014 and 2018 to reach 6.7 million at the end of 2018. The major part of pay TV households subscribe to a satellite offer.
At the end of 2018, Canal+ remains the dominant actor of the Pay TV market in French speaking Africa. The company is competing with a wide range of actors including the operator StarTimes, which intensified its presence in French speaking Africa in the recent years.
