Bouygues Telecom acquires EI Telecom, the biggest French MVNO operator

Last month, the French telco Bouygues Telecom announced the takeover of Euro-Information Telecom, which was operating under several mobile brands, the most famous being Crédit Mutuel Mobile, Auchan Telecom, NRJ Mobile, or CIC Mobile. The MVNO French market, shaken up by the arrival of Free in 2012, had stabilized for the last few years. The agreement should bolster Bouygues' customer base by more than two million subscribers, and strengthen its domestic distribution network through a partnership with Crédit Mutuel and CIC. Besides this deal, Bouygues should be one of the main operators involved in the French 5G spectrum auction, which has been postponed to September.
