Starlink is on its way to becoming one of the top 10 ISPs in Latin America

With nearly 2 million broadband accesses, Latin America has established itself as Starlink's second-largest region, behind only North America and accounted for 21.7% of its customers. By 2025, Starlink's subscriber base had doubled, generating broadband service revenues of nearly $5.9 billion.  Although Starlink's growth has been rapid, its share of the regional access market was 1.2%. It was not a high figure, but it was enough to rank 12th on the list of the largest ISPs in Latin America. The modest share should not be misleading. The figure described a young operator, not a niche one. This is indicated by its growth rate of 114%, which was the highest in Latin America. In 2026, two new markets will open up for it: Bolivia and Venezuela. Although Venezuela was formally off-limits for geopolitical reasons, Starlink has been recording an interesting volume of traffic for years; higher, for example, than that of Peru, its sixth-largest market.  86% of Starlink's customers were concentrated in the six main Latin American markets: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Given the scale of these countries, this level of concentration was typical for the region. However, what was new was the composition of this volume, as Argentina and Chile had grown more than expected and exhibited market shares outside the expected range.   In 2025, the company had been aggressive in its pricing, both for services and equipment, with the launch of lower-cost plans and products. In addition to gaining competitiveness over terrestrial options, the company had also set its sights on the arrival of new LEO systems. In 2026, Amazon LEO, formerly Kuiper, will arrive as a mass broadband access option, and AST Spacemobile will compete in the D2D (direct to smartphone) with high-capacity services.
